The Raccalope, also simply known as the raccoon, is a ingame enemy notorious for chasing down and eating any players in its field of vision. It counts both as a hazard, and an entity.

Gameplay Aspect[]

The raccalope is a very lazy creature, and sleeps when the Player is not within its aggro range.

But when the player gets close to it it will wake up and chase the player. When it catches the player it eats the player whole, and the player is instantly killed. Upon being eaten for the first time, the player will get the achievement "Prison Food."

It cannot be harmed by normal weapons nor punching or kicking, and can only be killed by sawblades.

It is affected by Magma blocks and has very glitchy behavior when surrounded by them.

Appearance[]

The Raccalope, as its name suggests, is a raccoon mixed with an antelope; it's a monstrous creature, larger than the player, with a flat noseless face bearing sharp teeth which, as you may guess, are used to tear the player to shreds ingame. Its' tongue lolls to the side when it runs, adding to its feral nature.

Their hind legs have only one claw whilst its front have clawless three-fingered paws.

It has square antlers similar to that of the Weapons frog from Castle Crashers.

Trivia[]

  • This enemy is part Jackalope, a mythical creature which appears to be a mixture between a jackrabbit and an antelope.
  • The Raccalope appears in a cameo in Castle Crashers Remastered, as a vendor in the Insane Mode Store.
  • If the player is riding a Horse while near a Raccalope, the Raccalope will not pursue the player and will continue sleeping, although its eyes are warily open. The moment the player gets off the horse, the Raccalope will chase them.
  • If the players' horse stands ontop of the Raccalope, it'll be in a loop of waking up as though sensing the player, and then falling back asleep.
  • There is a odd, although certainly not gamebreaking glitch known to happen in Insane mode; if one of the two players gets eaten by the raccalope whilst its doing another action on the same frame, the raccalope will eat the first player in a neverending loop of catching and eating them with the player unable to move from where they are. This is all until the second player dies, resetting the level, or completes the level; afterwards the players can progress normally.
